Don't sink straight away so I presoak first. They are also very hard so one of my two fish won't eat it, she seems to prefer softer food. Might just be a fussy fish.

Excellent Food Made Of High Quality Ingrediants
I've been keeping Fancy Goldfish for over 35 years - if I've learned anything it's the more varied the diet the better. Spectrum has always produced a quality food rich in real fish protein, essential amino acids and fats and the size is just right. With the larger pellets your fish gobbles them up in a nano second, the smaller pellets mean more "fun time" foraging for food and digging around the substrate. The average life span of Fancy Goldfish "should" be around 15 years however it seems most usually never make it past few years. Active in many Goldfish forums and attending shows for many years the question I'm asked most frequently is why my fish life so long. There isn't one simple answer to this question but there are a few time proven guidelines that are essential:* Buy your fish from a US based breeder from Japanese stock. Local pet stores import sub quality fish from China - they are the equivalent of Puppy Mills for goldfish and almost always have genetic flaws that lead to death.* Room is everything. Over crowding will eventually wipe out your entire tank. Follow the rule of thumb - 30 gallons for one fish 10 gallons per additional fish.* Weekly water changes of at least 25% are essential* Healthy and varied dietI supplement their diet with Zoo Meds Spurunila flakes which they go crazy for which is another excellent food made here in the USA and free of preservatives, blanched veggies such as spinach, squash and shelled cooked peas (which are excellent for cleaning out the digestive tract of most any fish).Spectrum is a tremendous value and well rounded food. The fact that they use krill and Squid meal is a huge advantage. There is a loop hole in AFCO guidelines that allow pet food manufacturers to list an ingredient by weight before it's cooked. As most meat is over 60% water this is deceptive because the true weight after cooking would place the ingredient from the top of the list to near the bottom. Choosing a food with specific ingredients like Krill, Squid, White fish and so on is imperative as vague listings like "fish" or "meat" allow the manufacturer to use contaminated and or rancid products all determined by market price.Spectrum lists specific fish and proteins which are in meal form and therefore have the highest percentage of protein in relationship to quantity and weight.Simply a superior food in every way.5 FINS UP!

Goldfish gobble it up
I have been using this brand for my goldfish since they were babies. I love the top notch ingredients and the Goldies all swarm to it during feeding. I have not had a single fish refuse to eat it.The pellets come in several sizes which is great for growing fish. It also sinks quickly, a plus when trying to avoid the goldfish gulping air! The growth rate is impressive. I haven't noticed any cloudiness from the food in the tank. The only drawback is the reformulation of the food. If you look at the various formulas (community, goldfish, marine...) they are now all the same ingredient listing for all lines. It was not this way before. It seems a bit deceptive to slap different labels on the same product to charge different prices. Although my fish still like the food, it makes me wonder if the company is now "phoning it in". This caused me to drop a star from an otherwise wonderful product.

Good quality food
A couple of my goldfish have swim bladder problems, so I started researching what causes it and realized I needed to look at the food I was feeding them. We are cautious about what we feed the cats and dogs but didn't think about the fish. Not all of the fish accepted this food right away but that could be because I pre-soak it so it doesn't float at the top and a couple of the fish do like to eat at the top but that I learned can cause issues. The ones who normally ate off the bottom loved it from day one. We have bigger goldfish so I wish they made pellet size too! Changing the way I feed them and their food has helped with the swim bladder issues.

New Life Spectrum is honestly one of the best fish foods I've ever used
New Life Spectrum is honestly one of the best fish foods I've ever used! It gives fish beautiful color and growth, and is honestly one of the best quality foods on the market today. That said, it's also pretty expensive per pound! I wish that there were more sizes of bags/jars of this food available. My six goldfish go through a 125g jar far too quickly to be worth the money, but the larger tubs are far too big and would go bad before I finished it off.I usually end up buying less pricey foods not because I'm unwilling to pay for NLS, but because there's not a size available that suits my needs.

good sinking pellet for all types of medium sized goldfish
No soaked pellet is going to keep the water clear 100% - but I find these soaked for about 5 minutes (no longer) do a great job at keeping the color in the pellet, and my fish like them. Sinking pellets I find are absolutely necessary for all types of goldfish, not just compact bodies such as on oranda, etc. The pells are very compact and have a strong odor telling you the pellets are fresh, and I have noticed enhanced coloration in my orange goldfish and increased shine in my others. I will be keeping them on this from here on out.I have also used this food on medicated tanks and noticed no issues.

Good size pellet for medium sized goldfish.
This sinking pellets are loved by my goldfish and they devour them like no tomorrow. It is also a good size for my large goldfishes because most sinking pellets are very small. The waste produced by the fish from eating these pellets easily diluted in water but it will change the color of the water in your tank.If you don't have charcoal in your filtration system to polish the water, the color of the water in your tank will turn brownish.

MY GOLDFISH LOVES THIS NEW FOOD !
I have a 17 yr. old goldfish which I've always fed high quality flake food to. He/she has decided to be a bottom feeder now. He goes for this new pellet food almost immediately when I put into his pond / tub....sometimes he spits it out and goes for another one. Not sure why. I still feed him the high quality flake foods along with the pellets. And I use a small amount of blood worms (freeze dried and purchased here on amazon too). All in all I feed these now which seem to be his favorite after all these years, then Aqueon Goldfish Flakes (from Amazon) and his original goldfish flake food from day one which is Pet Solutions Color Flakes. I feed the Hikari Bio Pure FD blood worms which I purchased from here on Amazon too (btw they float // odd)... I have not seen my fish so excited to eat in a long time but he goes for these pellets. I'm also treating him for ich with a great product I bought here on Amazon too. I have a Fish MD // Marine Doctor who told me to keep treating the ich as to stop the cycles of the disease. My goldfish is pretty large and scoops these up fast. He may spit them out as they are not as soft as his prior flake foods were...but he comes right back for more. I am so happy to see him EATING : ) I will buy more of this brand. Came on time and nicely packed.

Good choice for your goldfish.
This food has a good formulation for goldfish. I have a black moor that has been sick for over a year. His water is good, a couple of local fish experts and stores have been helping me, and we can't figure it out. He goes back and forth. I keep his water as healthy as possible and these really help. He looks a lot better when he's eating high quality food. Goldfish are scavengers and they need the mix of protein and veggies that are in this. I like the hard pellets because they are easy for my fish to eat and the keep the water clean. I think this is one of the best balanced foods for my fish. I also give him frozen peas (thawed, without the skins) and those are good for him too. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is that this stuff is expensive for gold-fish food. However, it's much better priced online and it does last a long time.
