Kind of buggy
Ok, so I've had this thing for a few months now so I think I can write an honest review. Its a little buggy. I have it installed in a 2012 VW Jetta TDI. It retained the steering wheel controls, made the Fender audio system sound better, gave me Android usability in the car but there are drawbacks. I'll list for ease of reading. I'll do the good then the bad. One thing to mention is you will need to go into the settings and revers the door indicators since its factory program is for a right hand drive car. When I got it, I opened up the driver door (left side here in the USA) and the right door indicator popped up. Simple fix in the settings.THE GOOD:First and foremost: IT IS DIRECT PLUG AND PLAY. NO SPLICING, NO CUTTING, NOTHING. It plugs directly into the factory harness. It has its own mounting bracket to fit the mounting screws and is perfectly shaped to fit in the factory trim. Best part about it I think.Second: Makes the Fender audio system sound clearer and louder.Third: Follows steering wheel input when in reverse so if you have a backup camera you can see the path of the vehicle.Fourth: Can install any Android app like your phone minus the obvious PHONE apps. Yes you can run Torque. DashCommand doesn't seem to connect to my adapters though.Fifth: Retains steering wheel controls like volume and such. Kinda cool.Sixth: Comes with a WiFi antenna so you can update it with your phone tethering internet or from your home WiFi if you're close enough to your house.THE BAD:First: GPS isn't very accurate. When I check the error it shows about 45 ft of error (my phone is around 10 ft). That means when I'm coming up to turns, especially in an area with lots of side roads or whatever, it lags behind my actual location. If you aren't really paying attention, its really easy to miss a turn. You'll pass the turn and then 3 seconds later you're GPS blip catches up.Second: Bluetooth and WiFi OBD2 dongles are kinda iffy. The Carista dongle wouldn't connect. My generic bluetooth OBD2 dongle usually connects but sometimes it won't no matter what I do, aside from shutting the car off and waiting a minute before turning it back on. The WiFi adapter I tried will break connection after a couple minutes. Neither adapter has any problem with my LG Q6 phone. Leads me to believe its the head unit.Third: Its kinda slow. This isn't your smart phone where you can slam through pages and apps smoothly. No this gets a little laggy and can be frustrating.Fourth: You CANNOT root it AND NO DEVELOPER OPTIONS! I've tried everything I know to do and I've had no luck on either. If I could get one of those to work I could probably speed it up by shutting down apps that run in the background.Fifth: Not bright enough during peak sunlight and too bright at night with bad auto dimming. Let me elaborate. Its not bright enough when you're in the middle of the day and its nice and sunny. Makes it hard to see when you're trying to look at your maps (just use your phone. Its better anyway). You'll be holding your hand up to try and cast a shadow over it so you can see it. When you turn the headlights on, it does dim but not enough. It doesn't have a light sensor so it doesn't auto dim like your phone will. You have to manually hit the dimmer switch and slider. Good luck while driving.... Don't crash.Sixth: You have to buy an extra piece of hardware for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.Seventh: Not my own personal experience but something I've read. If you need to take your VW to the dealer and they need to plug into the car for diagnostic, they will get radio related codes, which is fine since its not the factory radio, but also not be able to fully talk to the car. You'll either need to unplug the unit (not sure if that works) or plug in the stock unit so the computers can all talk to each other. Good thing is, the head unit can be swapped out in 20 minutes after you know what you're doing.Would I buy it again?? Maybe. If I couldn't find a better build Android system on the market and I really wanted an Android head unit then yes. Part of me feels like I should've opted for a name brand head unit with the proper CANBUS adapters and whatnot but you can't beat what you get for the price. It is worth the price at least.Hope this review helped someone out. I tried not to leave anything out since I know someone out there is looking for something like I was.

Good android stereo for the price
I've had the stereo in my car for a few months now so I feel I have a pretty good grasp on its features and how I feel about them. Coming out of the box everything was packaged very well and everything listed was included as advertised. Supplied instructions were adequate but if you've never installed a stereo before you would definitely need a YouTube video to walk you through it. I bought the optional back up camera which easy to hook up as all the connections for the optional equipment was clearly labeled. Once installed, the unit powered up right away and is no different from any other android device. Initial setup went pretty smoothly(language, date/time, region) and all pre installed app worked just fine once I signed in to all my accounts. The first thing I noticed was that there are wigits that are pre installed on the home page like the time, weather, Google search bar that cannot be removed. I found that the pre installed launcher didn't give enough freedom to customize the look as much as I liked so I downloaded and installed Nova launcher(there are several different launchers on the app store) and was able to customize the look to my likings. Start up takes a minute or so which can be a nuisance to some when taking short trips. I also found that the door ajar notification that pops up on screen when a door is open would show the opposite door that was actually open. That was easily fixed in the factory settings menu which requires a code to access. There are a couple of different codes(depending on your actual unit I guess) to gain access but they're either 0000,1234, or 126 like mine. Once into the main factory settings you can set the correct door open and set other features like your specific auto manufacturers icon to pop up while the stereo boots when you start your car. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the sound and function of the stereo, the bluetooth connection is clear and the steering wheel controls work just as they originally did. The only thing that I can consider a flaw is if an app isn't closed before the stereo is shut down(key off) the app that was left open will not function properly and requires that app to be closed, then reopened to function. Apps not closed prior to shut down sometimes causes the stereo to go into a sleep mode upon start up which requires the reset button to be pressed to reboot the unit. I've just gotten into a habit to close all apps before shutting it down and have not had any issues since.

Dead in an hour, but trying a replacement and keeping my fingers crossed!
I bought this radio and installed in next day in my 2008 VW Eos. Drove for an hour and the radio died. Wouldn't restart no matter what I tried. Luckily I had my stock radio with me and I swapped it out to continue my journey. Amazon customer support sent me a replacement radio and that is now installed. Works great so far...however, I have not yet driven it an hour, which is when the first one died. I will update my review when I know more.BUT, BEFORE IT STOPPED WORKING, it was the best android radio I have tried in my '08 VW Eos -- and I have tried at least 3 or 4 others that didn't work to my satisfaction. This one is Android 9 and is very responsive. Sound is much better than what I had with my stock radio. I can download the apps I use every day in my car and the radio is really easy to use.I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the first one was just a lemon. I will update when I have used the radio for an extended period of time.
