Annoying Chimes; Works Great *EDIT*
We have two doors to our home and needed door bells. The range covers the full length of our ranch home that is $1,300 sq ft and can be heard well even if the TV or radio is on.I wish that I could set channels so that both doorbell buttons would trigger the same bell, but that isn't an option. There were very few "normal" sounding chimes, and many are very long. The battery on the button has a stopper on it so that it doesn't run the battery dry during storage. To open the button I used a flat head screw driver in a small space you will see along the edge to pry it open. The device did not come with instructions on how to open it, so it took me a while to decide what the best method to get it open was. This doorbell does feel cheap and made of very thin plastic, but I installed it outdoors in 30 degrees f and it has been snowed on, rained on, sleeted on and temps have hit below -20 and they are both still working and attached.UPDATE: Well it is now June 2014 and both batteries have died and in attempts to change one the brittle plastic broke. The other fell off the frame and hit the deck. Neither are working any longer. I suppose it was nice while they lasted. I got what I paid for.

Wife thinks it is cheap and toy-like
I like that it has so many sounds to choose from. Most are ridiculous for a doorbell, though. I don't like that you have to click through each sound one at a time to get to the one you want. If you go past it, you have to go all the way around again. Much prefer doorbells with pins to set the sound. The wife thinks it sounds like a toy, even the standard chimes.I like that the button lights up when pushed, so you know if the battery is good. The button is too large though, and should look more like a typical doorbell button. I like that it is wireless and the bell unit is portable. Take the bell unit to different areas of the house, or the garage/workshop if you are working there, and want to know when someone is at the door.Bottom line...this is a fine unit for somewhere other than the front door. OK for a door to an outbuilding, shed, workshop, sunroom, office above a garage, or basement working/living space.Or, put one in each kid's room for when you want them to come for dinner. Keep the buttons in the kitchen. Cheaper than an intercom. Not as cheap as texting.

I suppose it has its application, not quite what I wanted.
I bought this for a coworker who always has headphones on in his cubicle. No one is quite sure how to approach him without startling him. I thought this may work. The sound cannot be turned off completely which would be aggravating in an office environment. I opened the thing up and desoldered the speaker to disable it. The single blue LED was not bright enough to get your attention unless you were looking right at/or near the device. There are only 2 of the 48 melodies where the blue LED actually blinks instead of lighting solid. I soldered another yellow LED where the speaker was landed on the control board and then drilled a hole in the front so it would show through the front of the case. This helped but still not quite what I wanted.

Amazing!
I got this door bell because I recently moved to an apartment in a house and I'm far enough from the front door that I won't hear if someone just knocks. I placed the device right in the middle of m living room which make it about 100 feet from the remote and trust me there are walls (real ones not the paper one) but the signal had absolutely no problem getting through and I can finally get my orders when the postman comes without having to leave my door open and making sure there are no sounds in my apartment not to miss him. That was the main purpose of the purchase. Now about the ringtones, sure there is a quite reasonable amount of choices but personally I found almost all of them either too annoying or too long (which made them annoying too) so I ended up choosing on of the most basic and less annoying ones and voila! no more missing the postman even though I'm at home!

Might be good for inside the home, but...
I really want to like this doorbell- we attached it to the kids play structure so they can ring the bell when they climb to the top. We put the chime part in a weatherproof box, but this thing seems to burn through batteries like nobodies business! I don't know if it's because it's out in the weather or if it's just a battery eater, but it's kind of ridiculous. I also wish that there was an option to rotate through the ringtones- it would be fun if the sound changed each time they pushed the button.

Needs More Chimes and Less Songs
Looks Great with the Retro vibe. The Choice of 46 different songs are not my cup of tea to let me know there is someone at the door. There are hardly any real bell sounds and I am pretty sure those more traditional bells are not licensed in any way. as much as I like "My Heart will go on" I will never set it to that or any other tune. Most of the tunes are not only songs, they are mainly Holiday songs and are not good at all. overall this door chime looks great and is still useful with the first ring setting.

lots of sounds to choose from
Though I think many of the sounds / songs maybe be too long for my liking, others might love them. We use the traditional "ding dong" sound ourselves. The LED light ring on the ringer do not seem to light all the way around, and build quality is decent. One thing I did noticed that the rechargeable batters in the ringer seemed to die out a lot faster than I would think. It was run probably no more than 30-40 times, when the batteries needed to be recharged again. (and yes they were fully charged when I installed them).

Using as a call button for elderly Dad
I bought this so my Dad, whom I take of, could call me. He is very weak after several strokes and in a wheelchair.I like the shape of both pieces on this product and you can turn the volume down on the ringing so it is not blaring, but if you are deaf or need to hear it far away the loud option is very loud. My Dad is very weak and handicapped from a stroke, so I needed a button that was easy to push. We have this on a lanyard around his neck, inside a name tag holder. It works perfectly that way. Having it in the name tag holder seems to help it not go off as much if he leans on it or rolls over on it but is thin enough so he can push it. Also a big plus both buttons light up. I really like that.

Cheap and unreliable
First impressions was that the item looked nice (better than other cheaper models)Once opened the item felt very thin and cheap. The button on the side to set the ring tone then stopped working. Within a few days it has been intermittently working. Which to be honest is pointless. I will be sending back for a refund.

Does the job.
Decent doorbell, with loads of horrible, shrill ring choices.
