A MUST for chalk painting and waxing.
I recently set about painting my very tired wooden kitchen cabinets with chalk paint. I came across several reviews stating I should use this style of round brush rather than a standard paint brush. I was somewhat skeptical about the whole chalk paint concept in the first place and even more skeptical about needing a 'special' paint brush. But heyho - in for a penny in for a pound (as they say in England), so I ordered 2 of these brushes - one dedicated to the chalk painting and the other to the waxing.I followed the instructions about preparing the brush before use to get rid of any loose bristles, which was quick and easy to do. I used the chalk paint brush all day for 7 whole days, washing the brush thoroughly each night with warm water (as instructed) and then hung the brush to dry over night. I had hardly any bristles escape from the brush throughout that time - very impressive. The brush washed up incredibly well, but you had to take time to ensure all of the paint was out. The wax brush I washed with warm water and dish soap which also worked really well. These style of brushes have definitely made a difference to the paint finish with less obvious brush strokes visible. I would definitely recommend using this with chalk paint and the waxing. The only tip I would give is that due to chalk paint drying quickly, if you intend on painting for a number of hours at a time, you may want to get a second chalk paint brush. This will enable you to wash one after a few hours of painting and let it dry whilst you continue painting with the second brush. Otherwise, the dried chalk paint on the brush can cause a bit of a problem with your paint finish, with bits of dried chalk dropping onto your newly painted surface. This is not a problem with the brush, simply an issue due to the quick dring nature of chalk paint. In summary, a great paint brush at a great price.PS I am also now a convert to chalk painting and waxing old furniture. Finish ended up way better than I had hoped for. For anyone who is interested the paint I used was Renaissance Chalk Furniture & Cabinet Paint Qt - Non Toxic, Eco-Friendly, Superior Coverage - Snow (32oz) . Really impressed with the paint.

Really decent brush!!
I really in truly think this company has nailed it and I have no idea how. Especially given the price point! I’ve had this brush for quite sometime now; I use it on smaller projects and so far, I’m really pleased. It’s very comfortable to hold, it’s lightweight. Yet made of great quality. Shedding is to be expected. However, I’ve experienced minimal. In fact a lot less than I have with some of my more expensive brushesI will say this (and I think this is why some of the other reviewers have complained about shedding)...STIPPLE, STIPPLE, STIPPLE!!!...Chalk paint isn’t really meant to be applied in strokes anyway. So you will experience more shedding if you’re using this technique. Especially if there’s not a lot of product on your brush.Stippling will not only prevent this problem. But it will also help you to achieve a flawless finish. (A finish that doesn’t include brush marks or random dried up bristles throughout your project).Lastly, make sure you take proper care of your brush and you follow their instructions. Keeping your brush clean is super important.Last tip: subsequent to washing your brush, add a little hair conditioner (& rinse). This will help keep those bristles from getting brittle! Once finished cleaning, ALWAYS hang upside down to dry. As you don’t want your new brush to rust.Hope this helps and happy painting!! 😃

Worked Perfectly, but beware of shedding bristles
This was my first foray into refinishing any type of furniture. I knew I wanted to chalk paint, followed by wax applications.Since I was going for a rustic distressed look, I knew I needed clear wax followed by a dark wax if I didn't want too much dark depth (apparently if you just go straight to dark wax without the clear wax first, the color gets pretty intense). So, I had to buy an extra wax brush (this one) for the application of the dark wax. I learned that you can't switch between the clear wax and dark wax with one brush, making two wax brushes are a must. The picture of the table above is with the dark wax applied with this brush and then buffed off. This brush definitely made application of the dark wax easy. I simply dipped the brush into the wax, and applied it to the areas of the tabled I wanted to darken. The brush tended to shed a bit, and getting the bristles out of the wet wax was a bit tricky - I'd recommend putting a set of tweezers nearby to fish out any lost bristles.Overall, it did its job well, but was a bit tricky to clean up - even with warm soapy water, the wax is pretty resilient.

Spectacular Brush for the Price!
Honestly, I was willing to pay the $36-$39 local price for an original A.S. brush for the ease of use. But when you can buy 1of these for 1/3rd of the price and not have to drive 30 minutes to the local shop ... I just had to give this one a try. It did NOT disappoint! We had just renovated our kitchen and as much as I considered a new table and hutch ... I thought chalk painting might be a viable option to get a few more years out of the older green set. Originally medium green backs and legs on the chairs and table, it was a breeze to paint them in black chalk paint with this brush. I started the project the day before this round brush was received using a standard flat brush and it was tedious. Next day this brush is delivered by Amazon and it easily took 1/4 of the time using this brush than a standard flat brush. If you’re doing ANY chalk painting project ... order this brush. You will NOT be sorry!!Love, Love, LOVE mine! Included a photo of my kitchen table and chairs that went from “early 90’s Green” to Graphite. The hutch still has the old green paint as accents ... but i’ll be painting those areas black next weekend!

Great brush
A few reviews said this was rubbish and shed bristles a lot. I disagree. I think it's a great brush. Works really well for applying wax and chalk paint although I have one for each. I've used it for 12 pieces of furniture now and I would highly recommend it.

I wasn't as impressed as I would have liked
I will preface this review by saying this is the first of this kind of brush I've bought. I recently began painting and waxing some second hand furniture and bought this because it was recommended on a website. The brush arrives in a really nice box and is the right shape for waxing. Applying the wax is very easy because of the shape, however, the amount of bristles that come out is really frustrating. It is worse after the first clean of the brush too. I would say, a bristle falls out every other time you apply the wax which then has to picked off when you wipe the excess wax off. As I said, I don't have anything to compare this too, however, I would look to buy a different brush next time

Pricey
Bought this to paint kitchen cabinets and not that impressed at all. It's really pricey for what it is. The finish is not that great and I ended up using the roller instead. The hair bristles kept coming loose as well. Would not recommend

Disappointed
Product arrived in a box ,it looked well made and was a nice weight, however when I used it with rustoleum chalk paint it left streaks and also quite a few bristle hairs behind which was somewhat annoying. Cleaning the brush was not easy rinsed under warm water and used as recommended dish soap however it didn't all come off and upon it drying the bristles fanned out and curled ...this is definately no where near the same quality as Annie Sloan brushes and it is far to expensive for the quality.

Great brush for half the price of branded versions
If you prep this brush correctly according to the instructions there is little or no bristle loss. (I had none the whole time I used it) Really easy to use and does the job well. Would buy again.
