Avalon

Randy Newman did great justice composing a beautiful, hauntingly melodic score to Barry Levinson's equally awesome "Avalon", about an immigrant who comes to America during the early twentieth century & progresses on into family life during the 50s - something many of us can recall with fondest of memories. It recalls a simpler, happier time where family emphasis, it seems back then was still more for the welfare of "each other", rather than just "themselves"/ circa 60s, 70s, " " ". Wish more people would watch it!

This film tells a beautiful story of a family of Jewish immigrants. It is sweet, funny, and looks into the heart. I love it so much that I purchased the soundtrack of Randy Newman's beautiful music so I may play it in my car. I love everything about it ! I loved it the first time I saw it, many years ago, and never forgot it. Only recently I began to look for it on line and was able to obtain it from Amazon.

Another triumph by Randy Newman. You cannot be unaffected by the melancholy feel to his writing for Avalon. MOVING DAY is a prime example. This score is somewhat like the feel for his score for Awakenings but that one has an importance to it that is amazes.

Beautiful quirky whimsical Randy Newman. Too little of it. Wish it was six CD's long.
