And the effect is certainly more convincing than the vast majority of the flickering LEDs housed in flame-shaped plastic. But indoors, the "flame" just oscillates rhythmically (see video). A slight breeze makes a big improvement. But there can be too much of a good thing. If it's too windy, the white plastic "flame" gets forced against the pin that it rotates around, freezing it into position. Then the illusion is completely lost. How well will yours work? I've been collecting the larger pillar LED candles and wanted to give these a try also. They arrived in a sturdy box with a cutout liner to store them in.Due to the size, they're made entirely of plastic, not with a wax coating as the pillar candles are. They take two AA batteries - but some of my rechargables were too large to fit in the housing, a minor irritation. The faux light is as good as any other candle of this style.I can see them being used for candles in windows during holidays, or hand held during prayer vigils without risk of fire if there are smaller children involved.

These are elegant, and produce a magical effect! The flames 'flicker' as if in an imaginary breeze, and the bodies look like wax, complete with drips. On the down side, you have to turn them "off' and 'on' manually as there is no remote. This also means that you cannot dim them or adjust the rate at which they flicker, and in a sense, they are not like candles, as if there is no breeze, an actual flame will stand 'still' with only the occasional flicker However, I still like them a lot, tho I might investigate other brands to see if the candles with remotes are a better value. (These would be impractical in a chandelier for example , as one would have to climb a ladder to turn them on and off.) I have Christmas tree size candles with batteries which I love, and THEY have a remote, which makes it possible to turn them off more easily and also to dim them, tho I never use the flicker effect. fjk

These look very nice and very realistic candles!!! I tried out all 4 of mine with AA batteries and they all work great so not sure about some of the reviews. I did order some 4" Lilly glass taper candle holders from Target that will look great with these at Christmas time. Great price also as the ones at Pottery Barn are WAY too expensive!!!!!

There was no remote control and one of the candles did not work at all. The base of candle is smaller than standard size so the lean over in the candle holder. Other than that, the ones that work look okay.

The candle works well, but there is a lot of clicking sounds as the "candle fire" moves. There is a weird shadow of the "candle fire" when in use, making it feel fake than looking realistic. The color of the light is good.

I was disappointed in these candles. They did not fit in my taper candle holders, with the exception of one.

Great but for the cost !Very pleased.
